The box in red is where the Google Adwords appear. These are sponsored links. In this red box, you will notice there are 3 ads on the top left row and 6 ads on the right row. Most of the time, depending on how much an advertiser is willing to pay, will depend on which search engine page and in which position your ad will most frequently appear.

Now if you scroll to the bottom on any Google page, you will find the following:

In this instance you will notice that the number 1 is in red. This means that you are on the 1st page of Google, according to the keyword search that you have submitted. This tends to be the page that most advertisers would like to appear. However, don't ever discount the 2nd or the 3rd pages, because they still get their share of hits.
